New Religion :: Jimmy Eat World originally by Duran Duran
I’m always hoping for a Duran Duran cover I love, but sadly they always fall short for me. This is no exception, though I suppose I will give it points for sounding like a completely different song.
I would love any and all recommendations of Duran Duran cover songs.
The Kills’ latest release is an EP for their single, The Last Goodbye, which also features covers of The Velvet Underground’s Pale Blue Eyes, Marylin Monroe’s One Silver Dollar and Willie Nelson’s Crazy. The EP is available now via Amazon and iTunes.
The soundtrack to Xanadu was the first album I ever bought with my own money. I emptied my coin “piggy” bank (it was actually Minnie Mouse) and put $1 increments into sandwich baggies, collecting them until I had enough for the album. It was one of those albums that opened up with pictures on the inside folds, and it had a kind of Part 1/Part 2 feel to the music - Part 1 being mainly songs by Olivia Newton-John and Part 2 being mostly E.L.O. songs.
This song brought the two together.
It was also a big roller rink song, too.
I suppose this song could qualify on the “not so guilty pleasure” themed day, but honestly I think the song is a bit too dear to me and my younger self to ever be categorized into anything that has the word “guilty” in it.
